A nursing home family council is a group of residents’ family members and friends who meet regularly to discuss concerns, share information, and advocate for improved care and quality of life.

NursingHomeFamilyCouncil.com is a “knowledge buffet”—a place where family and friends of nursing home residents can gather, share experiences, and access valuable resources. A supportive community offering information, references, and connections to help navigate long-term care together.

NursingHomeFamilyCouncil.com is a Community driven site which includes a subscription to our private membership Community.

We don’t directly place people in nursing homes, but we do provide valuable resources to help you navigate the process. Our platform allows you to ask questions, connect with others who have experience with different facilities, and share insights within our community.

Coming soon, we’ll be adding a Directory of Service Providers and Resource Websites to further support you in making informed decisions for your loved ones.

NursingHomeFamilyCouncil.com does not provide direct advocacy services. However, we offer a platform where you can find information and resources from professionals in areas such as mental and physical health, financial planning, and legal matters. Through professional posts, directory listings, and special events like livestreams, we help connect families and concerned friends with valuable expertise to navigate long-term care with confidence.

We don’t replace your local Family Council—we strengthen it! Our community connects you with others who understand your journey, offering support, ideas, and encouragement that go beyond in-facility meetings..

Right here! NursingHomeFamilyCouncil.com is a place where families connect, share real experiences, and support each other through the ups and downs of long-term care.

Whether you need advice, a recommendation, or just someone who gets it—our community is here for you.

Jump into the conversation. You don’t have to do this alone

A Family Council can be a powerful force for change. It gives families a platform to:

  • Create community—because no one should go through this alone
  • Advocate for better care and resident rights
  • Collaborate with staff to improve policies and communication
  • Support other families navigating the challenges of long-term care
  • No family should have to navigate the long-term care system alone. Family Councils give families a collective voice—a place to share concerns, advocate for better care, and support each other through the challenges of nursing home life.

Family Councils are not just about solving problems—they’re about building connections, driving change, and making sure our loved ones are treated with dignity and respect.

Councils are groups of people who come together to consult, deliberate, or make decisions such as a group of people who come together in a Family Council.

A Counsel is someone or something that provides direction or advice as to a decision or course of action such as a lawyer or a policy, plan of action or behavior.

HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) is a law that protects your loved one’s private medical information.

When posting or discussing in the community, focus on general topics about all residents rather than someone specific — especially avoid resident’s names, specific health conditions, treatments, or staff. This helps protect privacy while still allowing meaningful conversations.

If you’re ever unsure, it’s always safer to share experiences without personal identifiers.

Of course! You are welcome here.
